Rashanah Baldwin is a noted TV/ Radio journalist and recipient of the Mark of Excellence Award by The Society of Professional Journalists. Rashanah has worked to change her neighborhood’s perception and negative news coverage through her “Good in Englewood” campaign. She also created her own weekly talk radio segment that aired on WKKC 89.3 FM from 2014-2020 called “What’s Good in Englewood” and launched a blog www.GoodInEnglewood.com. She created and continues to champion her hashtag #GoodinEnglewood – to highlight positive aspects of a community that only makes headlines when something terrible happens.

Few can match Rashanah’s enthusiasm as a community leader in Englewood and across the city. Rashanah also served as co-host of Good In Chicago, a web tv-series and a podcast – presenting the positive side of all 77 neighborhoods in our beautiful city of Chicago. www.GoodinChicago.com

Her latest body of work,  “Someone You Need To Know,” is a showcast where she shares stories of trendsetters, tastemakers, societal change agents, and the special someone you need to know. She captures the stories often overlooked by the mainstream media, explores the untold stories of everyday people making a difference in their communities, the good news in the neighborhood, and the stories of amazing leaders changing the world through their respected fields. “Someone You Need To Know” is also available via podcast.

By deciding to change the narrative of how communities of color have been presented, Rashanah established significant brand equity with audiences and is recognized as an industry thought leader across Chicago.

Rashanah’s work has been featured in the New York Best Seller “Broadcasting Happiness” and the best-selling book  “The Future of Happiness.” She has been featured in many local documentaries, news outlets in Chicago, as the front cover of the Chicago TribunePBS, and national news outlets like Huffington Post. She has worked for Chicago media outlets such as WBEZ 91.5 FM (NPR-Affiliate), WGN 720 AM, WVON 1690 AM, WBBM 780 AM (CBS Radio), CBS -2, NBC, and Fox Chicago News. She holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of Illinois-Chicago and an M.A. Degree in Journalism from DePaul University.

Hailing from the Englewood community of Chicago, she learned a lot about resiliency as a young Black girl reared by a strong Black woman to assert herself in the marketplace. Her need to give back has resulted in several community awards, including, Chicago’s Most Impactful Young Professionals Recognized As Part of Chicago Scholars 35 under 35 Awards Who Are Poised to Become the Next Generation of Leaders, Outstanding Service To The Community Award by DePaul University, Newsradio WBBM 780 AM – 50 Newsmakers Making A Difference, and 2018 Recipient of Chicago Defender’s Women of Excellence Award.

As a millennial woman of purpose, she is leading the charge by changing the way communities of color are covered in national and local news.
